September 2020 Honoree
lacie danylo, BSN, RN
I was admitted to receive pre-stem cell transplant chemotherapy. At approximately 9:30 am I had a severe reaction. I had chills, shaking, and most importantly I could not breathe! After my nurse called the doctor, the room started to fill with people. As they assessed the situation I tried not to panic, to square breathe. It didn't work. I could not breathe!
Thankfully Lacie (who was not my nurse) took charge. "Call a code- he can't breathe," she acted. I locked eyes with her and immediately felt like she understood, and something was going to be done. I spent six days in the ICU, and it was really rough. But I am still here because of Lacie. She is my Hero - she saved my life!

Thank you, Lacie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
