She makes connections with new nurses during the orientation period and fosters good relationships to ensure open dialogue.  As a result, Lacy is viewed by caregivers as a great mentor and coach.
With her positive, upbeat, “Yes” attitude, Lacy consistently steps up to lead and mentor our caregivers at all levels.

Frequently going above and beyond, Lacy collaborates with caregivers at all levels to ensure regulatory and compliance needs are met.  She is proactive, and creative and uses innovative approaches to teaching. She works closely with nurse leaders and creates competency modules in myPath.  She makes connections with new nurses during the orientation period and fosters good relationships to ensure open dialogue.  As a result, Lacy is viewed by caregivers as a great mentor and coach.  She frequently takes the training to the units – schedules times to accommodate all shifts, and runs mock codes to ensure staff is prepared to identify possible concerns.

Although she doesn’t provide educational support for the clinic, when a clinic caregiver needed additional training to feel comfortable taking blood pressures, Lacy did not hesitate.  She spent several hours with this caregiver, and provided hands-on opportunities to ensure the caregiver was ready to properly care for the patients.  Lacy works hard to create a relaxed atmosphere that is conducive and fun for learning in a non-intimidating environment.  Thanks to a grant from UMKC, the Maryville Clinical Education Room will be getting a makeover and updated technology.  Lacy did extensive research on current simulation options and provided valuable feedback to ensure the environment meets the needs of our caregivers and the UMKC students.

Lacy’s positive attitude makes difficult situations easier to comprehend for many confused caregivers.  One leader offered this description: “She has such an infectiously happy/energetic attitude; it rubs off on everyone.”  Lacy is always willing to jump in and help as a “real” nurse (her words) when units are shorthanded. Lacy has been a champion for Epic since the very beginning.  Knowing that Epic training would require her full attention, she coordinated her training schedule to ensure that there were no conflicts and communicated the plan early to leaders and caregivers.  Lacy was key to the success of the Epic system-wide rollout, particularly in Maryville.  Lacy’s contributions include but are definitely not limited to:  creating multiple DIL scenarios, tip sheets, facilitating the majority of the Epic training sessions in Maryville, and being active on multiple Epic teams.

Lacy has a true passion for her job, and it is obvious to all those who know her.  We are very fortunate to have her on our team!
