I came to the emergency room as a referral. I had several tests and did not have any answers regarding my condition. I was admitted with the hope of finding out what was going on with my body. I felt discouraged and sad. When LaDonna came into my room, she introduced herself, asked if I need anything. "Some answers," I said. So she wrote on my patient board:
Goal: find out what's going on.
Each time I saw her, she reminded me and each nurse and technician what my goal was. She was very encouraging and helpful. When the doctor came and told me what my diagnosis was (MS), I was overwhelmed. She had the patient care assistant give me a bath and I would feel much better. She was right. The neurologist came and discussed specifics with me and I took in all the information and was able to think and ask questions. I really appreciate her and all her help and encouragement.

LaDonna was more like a family member than a nurse. I did not have an easy day. You see, I wanted to get off the pills. So I needed help. She sat down with me and said it is all going to be ok. I cannot tell you how I felt, words cannot describe. Here I had someone who really cared. I was tired of living my life the way I was living it. She said, "All of that was in the past. And I want you to leave it there. Let's work on the future that He put in front of you." We talked about things that happen to me; she never judged me. It was always a smile. She let me know that I did right. I was in God's favor; He is shining down good blessings on me. Those words put me at so much peace. She came and checked on me every day. And when I needed to talk, she always had time. So yes, a caring attitude and empathy. Clinical attitude made me feel like this is your chance. She demonstrated extraordinary clinical skill with compassion. Every time she had a great attitude and was very professional with me. She said that this was the place to be, Dallas Medical Center. I look at her as the daughter I never had. I would like to say, "thank you". A big "thank you" to LaDonna Willis.
