I first met the caregiver before my transfer to the OR to undergo open heart surgery to replace my severely stenosed aortic valve. The caregiver was a kind and inspiring nurse who met me and was so calming, caring, empathetic, and extremely kind to try to ease my fears and stop me from crying before going to an operation that is “super major,” which could take my life. She encouraged me, gave me hope, and supported me and my family with her kind words and smiling face. Her attitude was so professional and extraordinary. She knew her job well and was well-trained to do it with skills, professionalism, and empathy. Post-op, she was there as well to encourage me to recover from my operation. She was never hesitant to care for me whenever she was called. She is kind and warm-hearted.
