Lagaytha was nominated by two of our own nurses who said that Lagaytha is "the epitome of what a nurse should be. Wounds and ostomies affect a person's self-image and Lagaytha provides these patients with support, care, love, and compassion." She is always willing to answer any question for anyone, at any time, and is sure to educate her patients in ways they understand. "Lagaytha is always searching for the best evidence-based care. She is passionate about her job and goes above and beyond to ensure her patients receive what they need as well as other little things." Lagaytha gives teddy bears to many of her patients just to see them smile. "If all the nurses were as caring as Lagaytha, the patients would never want to leave." "She spreads joy and sunshine everywhere she goes, even when she's not feeling especially joyful. Lagaytha is truly a daisy in the sunshine of every patient/family member's life at MMH."
Lagaytha is described by her peers as someone who "knows her stuff". Doctors frequently call her into the OR to put on wound vacs. They say she has great communication and always lets other nurses know when wound vacs are coming. Lagaytha is always handing out small things to the staff like stickers or pens and she always has a hug or a good word for everyone. Most importantly, her peers say that patients love her!
Because of Lagaytha's compassionate and caring efforts, her patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
