Lagaytha is a nurse who goes above and beyond for all her patients. Patients know her as the nurse with the “colorful bows” and the one who draws a “smiley face” on their dressing when performing wound care. Lagaytha believes smiley faces on dressings help heal wounds faster and that fostering a positive environment promotes wound healing. Lagaytha saw one of my patients who was very upset that she was in the hospital and she really missed her dog. Lagaytha went the extra mile for this patient by giving her a stuffed animal. The patient's face lit up when she saw the stuffed animal. I could tell that Lagaytha had brightened up the patient’s day. I believe that Lagaytha is a DAISY Nurse because she is truly inspirational to the nursing profession and she is a kind and caring nurse.
