My 89‐year‐old father was dying and in for 9 days. Toward the end, he was angry and bitter and told Lainie and me that it was how he was feeling. Lainie explained that it was ok to feel that way but wondered aloud if she could do anything to help him not feel that way. He said that she could listen to him, which she did with love, grace, and respect for 20 minutes. His attitude did improve after that. He died four days later. But she brought much-needed light to his world when he needed it most!
