She took the burden of the situation onto her shoulders out of the kindness of her heart.
LaJeana was my mother's nurse when she originally transferred to Baxter. She took a special interest in my mom's case and they connected right away. She was very attentive to her mental needs as well as her physical ones. LaJeana was always able to bring a sense of calm and laughter to my mother during some of her hard times. Her amazing attitude and compassion should be an example to any nurse, no matter how long they have been in their position. She continues to ask about her condition through a family friend who is a nurse on her floor.

One night when my mother needed to be put on a BiPAP and was having an anxiety attack, LaJeana came down after her shift to comfort my mother and give me a break from the situation. She brought me food that she paid for out of her pocket and sat with my mother for an hour on her own time. She gave me the most loving hug when I needed it the most and told me to go outside to relax for a while. She took the burden of the situation onto her shoulders out of the kindness of her heart. I have asked LaJeana multiple times if there is anything she needs or any way that I can repay her, but she is too selfless to take any material repayment even if it is something as simple as a coffee. Words cannot explain the level of respect I have for LaJeana. She deserves recognition in every way possible. I hope you seriously consider the DAISY Award for her. Baxter Regional is truly lucky to have her on their team and I truly hope she and my mother get to work together again when she returns to rehab.

Not only does LaJeana take care of her patient, she truly cares for them. She goes above and beyond to care for them no matter what. She is a wonderful team player. She seeks out her patient's therapy team to make sure she is doing everything she can to carry over what we are working on in therapy and incorporate it into their daily routine. She takes the necessary time to communicate with other team members to ensure her patients receive full care. LaJeana also always has a wonderful bright attitude, influencing her patients and those who work with her. She demonstrates compassion towards all patients and team members no matter the circumstance. She goes above and beyond in so many ways.

Since we are on a rehab floor, we have our patients get up and get dressed every day. LaJeana noticed a need and immediately acted. Some patients come to our unit with no clothes other than what they came to the hospital in. LaJeana set up a clothes closet with everything a patient would need to be comfortable during their stay: shirts, pants, jackets, socks, hats, etc. She is also an active member of our unit UBC and helps with anything needed. LaJeana automatically takes a leadership role she is such a wonderful person, nurse, and teammate. She definitely deserves some recognition for all of her hard work!
