“On the other side of a storm is the strength that comes from having navigated through it. Raise your sail and begin.”
― Gregory S. Williams

Lakeside 60 not only weathered the storm of the pandemic with grace and resilience, they came out on the other side as a stronger more dedicated team. Lakeside 60 took the brunt of our COVID patients during the pandemic. They went in head first before we had answers or vaccinations. They were tasked with learning new technology, like how to discharge patients on new devices, caring for confused patients on IPads, and setting up family meetings via Zoom. They proved their ability to work under extreme pressure while showing compassion to our patients and community. Perhaps, equally as impressive they did it without complaint.

They have continued to show their commitment to their professionalism and dedication to clinical expertise. Lakeside 60 had 100% participation in UHCMC’s, Nurse Engagement Survey, outperforming national benchmarks in all 7 categories. In addition, they are outperforming in all categories for patient satisfaction.

This unit has managed to keep its senior staff which includes two former DAISY Award Honorees. They also showed their professionalism and respect for one another through their nominations for UHCMC’s 2023 Nursing Excellence Awards. Statements from these awards included:

"Hazel adapts well to practice changes and is a role model to her peers for providing evidence-based care, she advocates if a patient or family has a specific need or request, and she is a compassionate person."

Lastly, the pride of this unit is reflected in the monthly DAISY nominations received that include comments like: "I was impressed by Emily’s compassion and professionalism and she often has stayed past the end of her shift to make sure her patients have everything they need."

We are happy to present this unit with the 2023 CMC Team DAISY Award as they continue to Role Model teamwork and strive for Professional Excellence….
