I can't say enough about how she helped all of us with a difficult time, other than to say that somehow God knew who we needed, and when, to help Mom and I feel complete as she waited to be taken home.

I would like to thank my nurse, Lakkin. I am grateful for all the doctors and nurses who supported my mother throughout her cancer journey. We were blessed with many people who helped make these challenging and fearful days easier to bear, and I am indebted to everyone in the healthcare profession who cared for us. While I am appreciative of Crossroads Hospice providing such a great organization that took care of all our needs, I do want to take the time to especially thank Lakkin. Lakkin was able to create a relationship with Mom very quickly, which allowed Mom to trust her. While I was providing as much support as I could give Mom, I couldn't complete the care she needed. Mom and I were both blessed with Lakkin's ability to mediate between me and my wife and help me understand how I could be better for Mom, as well as draw out of Mom things that could help me on the difficult road I was walking. I can't say enough about how she helped all of us with a difficult time, other than to say that somehow God knew who we needed, and when, to help Mom and I feel complete as she waited to be taken home.

Thank you very much, Lakkin!! I can only imagine how hard your job is to do what you do day in and day out. I pray over the scripture Isaiah 40:31, "Buy they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." I pray that you find God's mercies renewed each day and draw from God's everlasting and ever strength that you can continue to be an angel for other families the way you were an angel for ours.

Note: This is Lakkin's 2nd DAISY Award!
