We had a patient in our unit recently who needed a little extra love and Landy definitely went out of her way to make sure he got it. He was only in his 50's and was admitted with early dementia. He had no family that wanted to assume responsibility for him, so he was with us while awaiting guardianship. To say he was a handful was putting it mildly. Each time Landy was here, she went out of her way to see that all his needs were being met. The day finally came that he had a guardian and placement was found. The day that he left, Landy got him balloons, a card which everyone signed, and a candy basket with gifts like books and games to occupy him at his new home. Landy paid for and orchestrated this to help ease his transition. What a great example of true compassion, I am proud to have her in our unit.
