During our labor, Lani came in and introduced herself at shift change. She quickly assessed our situation and decisively took actions to help with the back labor. At that time, she identified that the baby's heart rate was decreasing during contractions. She demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills when she explained the situation to us. Lani took charge of staff to begin the process to call in the on-call doctor which led to delivery of the baby by C-section. Lani was very professional, and she demonstrated caring and empathy. She made the situation very easy for us to understand and to decide on what we needed to do for a very successful delivery and happy healthy baby.
