I would like to proudly nominate Lanie Peace, RN for the DAISY Award for her exceptional nursing care. She cared for my mother as she passed in 2020 which was the beginning of the Pandemic of our lifetime. 

On the night of my mother’s transition, Ms. Peace called me from the hospital phone line to reassure me and comfort my family that my mother did not die alone. She stated how my mother said she couldn’t fight on, as she was tired. Lanie shared that she rubbed her back as she left this earthly planet. 
 
I cannot tell you or articulate well enough the gift that Lanie Peace gave to my family and myself. It was a horrific experience to know that your mother is dying per her primary care physician. We, as a family, could not be at her bedside to love and support her in her hour of need.  

Over the last 4 years, I sporadically tried to contact Lanie by calling the hospital and through the white pages, but to no avail.
Here is the best closure one could ask for:  

I went to the 2nd floor this year to visit my ill cousin who was in the hospital. I haven’t been to the hospital since before the Pandemic and the country shutting down. It brought back memories of my mom and Lanie (our angel).  I decided unknowingly to ask the 2nd floor desk if she knew Lanie Peace.  I was told that Lanie, indeed, did still work at the hospital and on that floor. OMG.  I left a letter of gratitude with my phone number, and soon, we finally met one another. I had the honor of meeting Lanie, our angel.

Please accept my nomination for Lanie Peace as she absolutely deserves recognition for her professional service and the humanitarianism she displayed. She cares deeply for her patients and the human condition. 

In closing, LANIE PEACE brought us PEACE.  My heart overflows with love and gratitude.
