I truly believe that Lanise Madril deserves this award due to her outstanding level of care, respect, professionalism, and compassion for her patients, their families, and her colleagues. Lanise has always gone above and beyond for everyone. When she is on the floor you never have to ask her for help with anything, she is aware when you're busy and will always go that extra mile to make sure that patients and their families are taken care of regardless of how busy she may be and what she is doing. Lanise is a charge nurse who never minds doing patient care on top of her charge duties, nothing is ever beneath or above her ability or duties. There have been many times when a child is in need of a bath, change of bedding and/or diaper, needs meds, or even needs to be fed and Lanise will go out of her way and put her patients' needs as her first priority. When Lanise is on the floor she is always happy and calm regardless of the situations that arise. The kids we have on our floor and their families absolutely love her. When they come to our floor and see her here, they're at ease. She treats these kids as she would her own and you can tell she enjoys it with every bit of her soul. When I see her interacting with patients and their families she talks to them like some would talk to and treat their own family, as an equal. Lanise is very intelligent and very knowledgeable in pediatrics. She is well-rounded, not only as a nurse, but as a person. It says a lot about her when you see Residents asking her questions and asking her for advice about some of the patients on our unit. I look forward to working with her and know that when she is here I can go to her for anything. The amount of respect, compassion, integrity and knowledge she had makes her more than an extraordinary nurse.
