It felt very healing to have someone actually listen and understand me and my concerns.
After being in recovery for a few days I met my nurse, Lanvy. She had been very accommodating and understanding of my situation and had even taken the time to listen when no one else would. This hospital is full of great nurses, but Lanvy really made me feel especially cared for. She helped me locate my missing belongings, which couldn't be found for a week, she had checked in on me, even with a heavy workload, just to make sure I was doing well. I didn't feel just like another patient but like a human being. It felt very healing to have someone actually listen and understand me and my concerns. It feels even better when those concerns are taken care of from a place of compassion. I hope to see Lanvy get awarded for her efforts in assisting me during this tragic time. I wish there were more ways to repay her for being such a wonderful person and helping me recover, and I wish I could say thank you enough. She has been an absolute blessing to me throughout this experience.

Vivian joined our 6C family back in 2020. Since then, she has grown into a confident and compassionate nurse. If you know her, she is always on the go, rushing through the hallways to get to her patients. But once she is in the room with them, she takes her foot off the pedal, slows down, takes her time with her patients. She listens to her patients and acknowledges their needs. Just like what the patient wrote, she took the time to listen when no one else would. She helped locate his belongings after no one else could. This wasn’t the first DAISY nomination submitted for Vivian. Some patients described her as caring and empathetic to their needs, another patient said even though she was busy, she always made time for him and responded right away. Not only does Vivian treat her patients with kindness, respect, and compassion, she is like that with her co-workers as well. She is a great team player. She is always willing to help out her peers.
