LaQueisha is selfless, humble, innovative, and genuinely inclusive in everything she does.
I am honored to submit this nomination for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award on behalf of a colleague whose impact on our organization is both profound and far-reaching. LaQueisha previously served as our Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist and continues to play a central role in guiding our Magnet journey. This role demands deep expertise, relentless vigilance, and the ability to bring an entire organization along — and LaQueisha does all of that and so much more. What sets her apart is not only clinical and programmatic excellence but also the profound humanity brought to every interaction. LaQueisha is selfless, humble, innovative, and genuinely inclusive in everything she does.

As we advance on our Magnet journey, LaQueisha rounds up the units to build engagement, assess understanding, and prepare our teams. What I have observed in those rounds speaks volumes about her character. When a staff member answers a question incorrectly, there is no quick dismissal and no embarrassment. Instead, there is a pause — a deliberate choice to create safety. The staff member is gently guided through the thinking process with questions, context, and patience until they arrive at the answer themselves. LaQueisha understands that true engagement is not built through correction; it is built through connection. Staff leave those conversations feeling capable, not diminished.

This same spirit shows up in the personal care given to colleagues. One story stands out among many. A care partner on our unit was going through a deeply discouraging season. She confided that she felt like she was falling behind while everyone else's life was moving forward — that for every step she took forward, she lost three. I watched as LaQueisha responded with a presence that cannot be taught. There was full, unhurried attention. Thoughtful, clarifying questions were asked — not to fill silence, but out of a genuine desire to understand. Then came honest words drawn from personal experience and struggle, alongside practical, grounded guidance. The care partner who had walked in heavy with discouragement visibly lightened. Her whole demeanor changed.

But it did not stop there. A few days later, LaQueisha sought that care partner out to follow up — not because it was on a checklist, but out of genuine care. Encouragement and insight continued over many days. The lasting impact became clear when that care partner approached me on her own and shared that LaQueisha had pulled her back from the edge of despair. Those were her words.

This is who LaQueisha is — a vigilant clinician, an innovative leader, and an inclusive force who makes everyone feel seen and valued. LaQueisha advances our Magnet mission not only through expertise but also through how people are treated along the way — quietly, consistently, and without seeking recognition.

It is my privilege to submit this nomination. LaQueisha has more than earned this honor.
