Lara
Boussu
,
RN
Intensive Care Unit
Portneuf Medical Center
Lara put on all of her PPE and went into the room and sat with the patient and held her hand, and talked with her until the patient ultimately passed away.
I was in the ICU working with Lara and she was working with a COVID patient.
The patient had a surgical complication and had been placed on comfort care. The patient was near end of life and her oxygen saturation was in the 20s and her heart rate was in the 10s.
Lara said, "I should get in there and be with her." Even though the patient had COVID, Lara put on all of her PPE and went into the room and sat with the patient and held her hand, and talked with her until the patient ultimately passed away.
It was inspiring and very touching to see that, especially since family is not allowed in the hospital, even at end of life.
