May 2025 Honoree
Lara Brace
This story occurred 2 months into Lara’s student nurse journey. It had been twelve hours of not stopping, physical and mental pressures. As this student was walking out the door of the hospital, she stopped and had a still moment in her soul as the Holy Spirit led her to go back; something was not right. She used a silent prompting in her tired state of mind to stop, think and act. She returned to the unit to discuss a situation with the charge nurse. It was scary and took courage. She kept her promise to the vulnerable patient and maintained trust and loyalty to provide this person safe, equitable care. She became someone's voice and a protective covering for a fragile soul. She took ownership that day and entered into the intimate personal side-by-side journey with another because of her deep love and respect for others, and her heart that abides in Christ. She continued to demonstrate these behaviors throughout her entire nursing school journey.
Thank you, Lara, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
