January 2024 Honoree
Lara Laird, RN
Lara Laird is one of our charge nurses, and she always has a way of connecting with the patient and family. We had a young TBI patient named A who was admitted to our department. Lara immediately built a rapport with the patient and family and bought her a purple bear on A’s birthday. When A was discharged to Encompass, her mother could not be with her on that first day since she lives in Sonora. Lara volunteered to be with her. Today, A visited her at work with her mother. A's mother said, "Lara is our Angel; she answered all our questions and kept our mind at ease." A stated, " I could not remember everything that happened to me during that hospitalization, but I still have that purple bear, and I thank everybody who helped me on that life-altering experience.
Thank you, Lara, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
