Lara made the experience as kind and gentle as it could be.
My husband spent his last days in Lara's care. On the day he died, she came in consistently to make sure he was comfortable, got meal tickets for my family, was calm and quiet and comforting, helped us arrange furniture to make everyone comfortable, and made the experience as kind and gentle as it could be.
I also know she was supposed to go off shift at 7, but that was right at the end, and she stayed with us another 45 minutes so that we wouldn't have the jarring experience of shift change right at that moment. She didn't say anything about that, but I noticed. It was such a compassionate selfless act, and our family is so grateful.
