I dedicate my progression and readiness to take on the responsibilities of a newly licensed nurse in large part to Laraina's mentorship.
During my final term in medical-surgical/oncology, Laraina served as my preceptor and was the epitome of what it means to be a great mentor and role model. As my nursing program came to a close, her ongoing respect, compassion, and dedication to education not only improved my clinical abilities but also gave me more trust in myself.

Laraina created an environment for learning based on open communication and respect for one another right away. She constantly gave me valuable feedback that helped me improve my technical proficiency and clinical judgment. Her ability to spot possibilities for growth while recognizing my strengths gave me self-confidence, which was something I had considerable difficulties with before this opportunity. Throughout Laraina's mentoring, I came to see that I felt far more competent than I typically believed. Laraina's passion for patient care and commitment to quality were evident in every encounter. By acting professionally and showing compassion for her patients, she set an example for the rest of the medical staff.

Following her approach to complicated patient cases helped me strengthen my critical thinking skills and build the bravery needed to be successful in oncology nursing. She was always willing to take the time to answer all of my concerns or go into great depth to clarify processes, which gave me a broader understanding of patient-centered healthcare.

Last but not least, Laraina helped me envision the type of nurse I strive to become—one who is not just technically skilled but also equipped to maintain her composure and empathy under hardship. She reminded me that nursing is about much more than performing tasks; it's equally about building profound connections and speaking up to accommodate individuals during times they are particularly in need. I dedicate my progression and readiness to take on the responsibilities of a newly licensed nurse in large part to Laraina's mentorship. She is an exceptional candidate for this distinction because of her devotion to educating students and her overwhelming passion for molding future nurses. I hope that her dedication to nursing instruction and guidance will be recognized, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to learn what I learned under her guidance.
