I couldn't afford the medications for my baby, but she mobilized her team and Drs to make sure that he went home with the medicine he required. She also went beyond and bought my baby a stroller and baby crib and ensured he had clothes by emailing the Sheikh Foundation and providing my baby with overalls.
We were admitted with being diagnosed with severe [redacted] he was on [redacted]. I didn't know what that meant; I had no idea how to take care of my baby since I had never stayed with him. I was alone, no husband (he had even cut communication with me), no family I just had a few friends who I was staying with and who were not aware that I was admitted with the baby, on top of that my phone had blacked out and I hadn't moved with my charger. She came in to check whether everything was set well. Poor me was stuck with nothing but my dead phone, no essential needs, no food, and just the clothes I was wearing. She became that family and big sister to me. She not only provided me with basic needs, but she always made it a point to check on us every day even when she was not the one allocated to attend to us that day. She always made sure he had a bath, our beddings changed, in simple terms she always wanted us comfortable. Personally, at first, I didn't know how to take care of my baby, like giving a bath, but she could come and do it herself even though we had a nurse allocated to attend to us.

I was so stressed and scared about his health and well-being after discharge because I wasn't sure of how to handle my baby after the hospital; she made it a point to go ahead and contact the social worker about our situation with the aim of securing for us a safe and healthy environment. Besides that, on the day of our discharge, she took it as a point to make sure that we got all the equipment and machines that we needed since he was still on oxygen and still had lots of secretions. I couldn't afford the medications for my baby, but she mobilized her team and Drs to make sure that he went home with the medicine he required. She also went beyond and bought my baby a stroller and baby crib and ensured he had clothes by emailing the Sheikh Foundation and providing my baby with overalls. This sweet soul didn't stop there but also went ahead and tried to ensure our future and well-being outside the hospital by donating to us in the good faith of making sure we would be happy and fine. Even after discharge, she sometimes made it a point and spared a minute to call and ask how we were doing, in simple terms she still follow up on our condition even after discharge. Even when we were admitted again and placed in a different unit, she could still come and check on us, making sure we were comfortable.

In conclusion, she became part of us and like family to us. She covered the gap between my family that was not here, made me feel at home, and forgot about the stress I had for the man who didn't care about his baby. She always tried to cheer me up with her simple kindness, care, understanding, and love. Thank you. I am ever grateful for everything you did for her and him for the three months we stayed, and always praying blessings for you.
