Because of my amazing nurse, my labor and delivery experience transformed from something frightening into something empowering and deeply meaningful.
When I think back to the day my daughter was born, I am filled with gratitude for nurse, the incredible nurse who guided me through one of the most intense and meaningful experiences of my life. As a nurse myself—but in a completely different field—I thought I had an idea of what to expect. However, when the time came, I quickly realized how little I knew about labor and delivery. My nurse became my anchor in that storm.
From the moment she entered the room, her calm, caring presence immediately put me at ease. When it became clear that there wouldn’t be enough time for IV medications, she met my fear with empathy and reassurance. She coached me through every contraction, helping me focus my breathing and reminding me that I was capable. Her words and tone reflected not just skill, but genuine compassion. I could feel that she cared about me as a person, not just a patient.
Larinda established an incredible level of trust in a very short amount of time. She took the time to explain what was happening and why, which gave me confidence in her care and in my own ability to handle the situation. When she was on shift, I felt completely safe. Her intuition and quick attention to both the big and small details made me feel protected, as though nothing would be missed under her care.
She carried herself with the highest level of professionalism. She was composed, clear, and collaborative with the entire healthcare team. Her communication was seamless and always patient-centered. She balanced her medical expertise with emotional support beautifully, never making me feel rushed or uninformed.
Her attention to detail was truly exceptional. She noticed subtle cues—both in my physical responses and emotional state—that even I, as a fellow nurse, didn’t recognize. She anticipated needs before I could voice them. Her commitment to excellence was evident in everything she did, from monitoring the baby to ensuring I was comfortable and informed.
