I nominate this night nurse, Larisa, for her ability to keep me safe and provide me with excellent care. When I met Larisa, she went over my medication with me, and she helped me determine that my constipation was caused by the antacid medication that was prescribed to me two years ago. She got me pain medication in 15 minutes from being off her shift.

When I asked for pads, she not only brought me pads and underwear but also offered me towels, shampoos, and soap; so, if I would like, she would be happy to help me take a shower. After that, I felt very safe with Larisa, and I told her about a treatment I received from another nurse. Larisa assured me that she would make sure I would feel safe in this hospital. Larisa put up the sign at my door that said that people can only enter after they check in with a nurse. She brought me water and made sure I ordered food on time.

When I went to sleep, she offered me melatonin and said don’t worry I will be here with you and if you need anything or feel any pain I will take care of you. In my eyes, I see Larisa as not a nurse but as a guardian angel who came and took care of me and my baby when I needed it the most. I'm extremely grateful that Swedish hospitals have hired Larisa because she demonstrated the compassion, justice, dignity, and safety that Swedish stands for. I hope that in the future, Larisa will be recognized for her impact on preserving the excellence of care at Swedish First Hill.
