Larry was my night nurse many times during my stay. I was always so grateful to find out that he would be there for me. Nights in rehab were the most difficult. Being confined to a bed and not able to manage basic health needs is scary. I always knew that he was reliable. If he said he would be there at a certain time, he always kept his word. With Larry on the night shift, I wasn't scared.
One night he came into my room and found me crying. He came over and asked what was wrong. I told him I was watching a TV show. It was in the middle of the night. Larry knew that wasn't the case. He stayed with me until I calmed down. On another occasion, my medication caused me to have an extreme nightmare. Larry asked what it was about and we were able to laugh about it. He then shared some of his extreme nightmares. I went from being scared to laughing about the experience.
Larry is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He always has a smile and a kind word to share. In my opinion, Larry is an incredible nurse. He is funny and sweet. You can't teach empathy. With Larry, it just comes naturally.
