Lashaundra Ferman, RN
Recently, the ICU has experienced a difficult patient case that went on for a lengthy stay. Multiple nurses and providers were unable to continue caring for the patient due to the ethical nature of the event.
Lashaundra volunteered multiple shifts, weeks in a row, to take on the patient's case to keep care consistent. Even though the family was trying at times, Lashaundra was able to be a neutral ground for them and provide the patient with care. I am a leader on the unit and spoke with Lashaundra, telling her that she does not have to always take this on, and her response was, “I know the patient, and even though it is hard for me to watch, it also keeps my teammates from having to.”
Lashaundra is a beacon of light on our unit and displays Norton’s mission, visions, and values in all that she does. Not only does Lashaundra care for her patients and their families, but she cares for her co-workers.
Our crew would like to recognize Lashaundra for all of the positivity and care she brings to us every shift.
