LaShawna treats everyone equally and bridges the gaps that exist between the different demographic groups.
LaShawna is the Best of the Best in the L&D world. LaShawna naturally lives and breathes the Mission, Vision, and Values of Memorial Hermann because these core values are innate within her. LaShawna is the most selfless and caring nurse there is. She had a patient with a fetal demise and worked non-stop by her side to comfort and care for her. Then, at the change of shift, she stayed to ensure the patient was stable and felt okay. She made sure the oncoming nurse had everything she needed so that she would have more time to focus on the patient.

LaShawna is kind, caring, and patient. This example is one of many that represent why LaShawna is a true DAISY Nurse. Like most nurses, the highs and lows we experience stay with us forever and LaShawna is no exception to this phenomenon. What we do with these experiences is what separates the average from the exceptional. LaShawna falls in the exceptional category because she is able to take her experiences and learn from them and teach utilizing them. LaShawna provides employees with inspiration, awareness, and tools to excel no matter their level of experience. LaShawna treats everyone equally and bridges the gaps that exist between the different demographic groups we serve here at Memorial Hermann Southwest. She is also the epitome of what teamwork should be.

Once she begins her shift, she evaluates the needs of the unit and does it all while working effectively with her peers and providing phenomenal patient care. LaShawna is always willing to come in extra to help when the unit has a need, which is instrumental on a busy unit like our L&D. We are honored to have LaShawna on our team and am proud of everything she has accomplished in her career. Well done and congratulations on this well-deserved DAISY Award! Thank you for all that you do, LaShawna!
