It is my pleasure to nominate Lathun for the DAISY Award because of his pure love. He made me feel like I was his only patient during my stay at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. When he was my nurse, Lathun showed compassion, concern, and kindness. He took his time and was patient with me, speaking gently and kindly. He listened intently to my concerns and my life experience stories (sometimes, those stories can be hard to listen to). When Lathun was caring for me, I didn't even realize that I was receiving clinical care. He went about his business professionally and made me so comfortable that I didn't even know. My family also thought Lathun was exceptional and that I was in good hands. We included Lathun in our conversations as if he were family. He explained everything that we needed to know. We all trusted him and enjoyed his friendship for the short time that I was there. I was so impressed with Lathun when I complained that my coffee was cold and he made the effort to replace it with a fresh, hot Biggby! That was a special treat for me and typical for Lathun to be so considerate. Lathun is perfect, and he deserves the DAISY Award and any award that recognizes him for everything that the DAISY Award stands for. His extraordinary effort goes well above and beyond. He qualifies as an absolute role model for anyone, young and old. We need more Lathuns in this world.
