Latisha Ellis recently had a patient that she routinely follows for INR checks. On one of her recent visits, the patient brought to Latisha's attention a lump in her breast. The patient had told her husband that she wanted to talk to "her nurse" about it. Latisha took the time with the patient that day and confirmed a lump. The patient had no insurance and Latisha immediately became concerned over follow-up for this patient. She sent her to the ED where after consultations, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and is scheduled for mastectomy. Latisha is the finest example of a nurse - she takes the time and listens to each patient and follows through in every situation.
