Not only did she share compassion but she also advocated for me like no other nurse has ever done before.
I separated from the military in 2013.  The transition was rough because I did not have a backup plan and I didn’t know what the future was going to look like. Since then I have had a battle with receiving the care that I deserved. I also have not always had the best experiences with nurses but there was a nurse I encountered named Latonya Davenport. Not only did she share compassion but she also advocated for me like no other nurse has ever done before. She also took the time to listen to me like a human being. Nurse Davenport gave me the respect that I think she would want for herself or one of her loved ones. Nurse Davenport went above and beyond what may have been asked of her in the job duties and communicated in a way that she knew was best for her patient. Nurse Davenport will always have a special place in my heart and I respect her.
