Toshia loves working with the Veterans and has so much compassion, empathy, and sympathy when she cares for them. She truly treats them like they are her own family.
I met Toshia about a year and a half ago when I started working here at the VA. Tosh worked with HPACT, which we all know to be our Homeless PACT. The Veterans LOVE(D) Toshia! I got the opportunity to become the nurse for the HPACT team when Toshia went to another job for personal career development, she has since come back. They sure were big shoes to fill!!
Integrity: The Veterans Toshia took care of had all the confidence and trust in the care she gave them! Every day almost every patient asked me where she was. Every day and with every patient I had to explain that she had gone somewhere else for career development. Not only did Toshia have the trust and confidence of the Veterans in her care, but she also had the trust and confidence of the staff she worked with. They sure missed her dearly when she was gone!
Commitment: Toshia has so much commitment to the VA and the patients! So much so that she came back to this job! Toshia loves working with the Veterans and has so much compassion, empathy, and sympathy when she cares for them. She truly treats them like they are her own family.
Advocacy: When I was training with Toshia and HPACT, Toshia knew everyone and anyone to contact if the Veteran needed ANYTHING! There were times I felt like she could rule the world with ALL the information she knew. If she didn’t know the information at the moment, she made sure to find it! Toshia would give the shirt off her back for the Veteran! Likewise, Toshia has a huge heart and takes care of her coworkers! She is very easy to talk to whether it’s a good day or a bad day!
Respect: Toshia has always treated everyone in her presence with respect. She is the sweetest person and is amazing with her professional yet personable approach to everyone she comes across!
Excellence: We are so lucky to have Toshia come back to the VA. Since she has come back, she has gotten a promotion! Her career development helped her gain the position she currently has right now as a Lead LPN. Toshia always strives for excellence! She reaches out to help others all the time, no matter the need. Toshia also volunteers to participate in multiple committees, shared governance, as a champion, to name a few. She is the motivation nurses need to be the best they can be in their careers!
