In the midst of the chaos of Intensive Care (multiple pumps pumping, bags of drugs, and fluids being juggled, multiple numbers being processed to solve hemodynamics puzzles) it is easy to forget the importance of the question "how is the soul of my patient now?" But not for LaToya. In morning reports, she doesn't just boil a patient's health down to a few numbers and vital signs. She always keeps in mind all aspects of the patient's comfort, and she is always willing to go out of her way to go the extra mile. For example, yesterday she personally took home her patient's clothes, dirtied by feces, to wash so that her patient could be comfortable in clean clothes. In addition to this, she also bought with her own money the patient's favorite soda to ease that patient's suffering and brought to the hospital on her day off. The dignity, self-esteem, the much-needed love filled the void for this particular patient! It was reflected on his face! LaToya is a true DAISY Nurse.
