It is my great honor and pleasure to nominate LaToya Phillipe, RN from the ONS department, for the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing. I have had the opportunity to work side by side with LaToya for the past year. I was initially struck by her extreme professionalism and compassion in caring for sick and injured patients. The most recent events that cemented my opinion occurred over the weekend.
LaToya performed the herculean task of not only taking care of 4 sick patients' nursing needs on her assigned pod, but she was also required to provide almost one on one attention to a patient with a worsening life threatening condition. She performed these tasks with a smile and compassion extraordinary in nature. She worked hand in hand with 5 medical specialists to address this patient's unique needs. She also skillfully addressed 2 different Rapid Responses for her assigned patients.
I can think of no one more deserving of an award for Nursing Excellence than LaToya.
