Latoya Steele has been my nurse for the past year or so. She has always been warm, helpful, and concerning. After an accident I had an appointment at the VA. She saw I was having trouble getting to another clinic. She not only put me in a wheelchair, she pushed me to the clinic and came back to get me. I needed appointments set up at UAB, which she also took care of. After she was off duty she took time to assist my wife in getting the car and helped me into it. I have been involved with the Birmingham VA for more than 40 years. Ms. Steele is an example of a wonderful caring person. I've seen her give every veteran the same respect. This young lady deserves to be awarded for her compassion.
