Latra Patterson is the ultimate clinical nurse. She also has such a soft spot in her heart for our most vulnerable and needy patients. She often can get them past some of the biggest hurdles they are facing and on to the healing process. She is kind to them. She goes above and beyond to do things for patients and does this without the need of recognition. Clinically she is the nurse you want caring for you or your family. She is fearless when advocating for our patients and our family and is not afraid to push the envelope when needed. She received more comments for great care than any other nurse on our unit totaling 40 plus! This does not include the great things patients say during rounds and also she is mentioned on surveys and thank you notes that we get. She is the go to expert for clinical care and also treats patients with the utmost kindness and respect. She deserves this award for her years of hard work and caring.

Latra is an expert in dealing with complex patient situations. She also has a huge heart. For example, a long term patient is finally getting to go home. She and another nurse hired her personal hairdresser to come in and cut and style the patient's hair. Together these two nurses also made sure the patient had a pedicure. They gave her a spa day in prep for home.
