My 90-year-old mother fell and was brought to the ER via EMS, and was treated for her injury. She was admitted to a room, and the one remaining test was done early the next morning. By 2:00 PM that day, my mother still had no information from the physicians about her test results or discharge status. The nurse assigned to her seemed overwhelmed with her workday and sent her supervisor in to take over my mother's care. The new nurse, Latrese, was extremely helpful. We were very impressed with Latrese's knowledge and her willingness to take the time to explain the situation and the difficulty she and other staff members were having in reaching the attending physician for answers. She was an excellent liaison; she kept reaching out to the physicians and eventually was able to communicate with the Neurologist to move forward with discharging my mother at 5:00 PM. Latrese was attentive, caring, and compassionate, and we fervently hope she can be recognized as the outstanding nurse that she is. She clearly treats patients in accordance with the mission statement posted in the hospital lobby.
