When I think of the characteristics that make a DAISY Nurse, Laura displays every single one of them. The three characteristics that top the list for her include kindness, excelling in teamwork, and always offering to help or do more without ever needing to be asked. She is our unit’s greatest preceptor and whom I contribute to our continued tenure. She is also a charge nurse and often leads in professional development or new/changing education needs. A charge nurse’s role can be stressful and overwhelming, but she always presents a calm and collected demeanor, which affects the rest of the team positively. I know I can speak on behalf of our entire team, but Laura’s expertise, professionalism, and positive attitude are what constitute an amazing nurse. I can’t think of another nurse that encompasses these characteristics more. She is very deserving.
