My wife had a knee replacement surgery at Poudre Valley Hospital. As a result of blood pressure variations, she remained in the hospital for a third night to assure normalization prior to discharge. For two- and one-half days we had the opportunity to observe and receive the ministrations of the very professional staff. Caring and competence were constantly in evidence and there are a number of nurses and assistants deserving of recognition. In the sea of competent and caring staff, Laura Brooks stood out!
While Laura had broad responsibilities that night and morning, it seemed that she was always present when needed. In addition to competence and caring, she demonstrated planning, coordinating, and organizing skills in the performance of her duties and she provided detailed advice and instructions that prepared us for necessary steps before discharge. Ms. Brooks exhibited superior skills expected of a nurse and went far beyond in demonstrating exemplary management skills. Ms. Brooks stayed beyond her scheduled shift to facilitate my wife's smooth discharge. Laura Brooks is truly an extraordinary nurse!
