Mrs. Dry’s smile, attentiveness, and friendliness were exactly what I needed to alleviate my concerns at this point to get through this procedure.
This was a difficult visit for me not only for the fact that this was the first time to have a procedure done at the Houston Physician’s Hospital but also because I had no other feedback from friends, family, or work colleagues I know regarding this hospital so I was very nervous. On top of this, I was coming in for the scary aspect of getting biopsies for newly discovered cancer which is the same cancer my father had had and for which I strongly remember how his quality of life changed after the efforts to treat the cancer. Upon my arrival to the pre-op area, I was immediately greeted by Mrs. Dry with a big smile and hello. Her welcoming attitude was just what I needed during this difficult time as my wife could unfortunately not be there with me as she was traveling for business in her new job. Thus Mrs. Dry’s smile, attentiveness, and friendliness were exactly what I needed to alleviate my concerns at this point to get through this procedure. She did not just check the boxes of what needed to be done but she explained things, talked with me, and stayed with me explaining what was to happen, who different people were while also making me as comfortable as possible. Even when an anomaly came up on my EKG and there seemed to be a concern, she was explaining it to me and made sure I had the information to communicate to my personal doctor for follow-up after my procedure. Again Mrs. Dry may not realize just how much it meant for me to have her take care of me and alleviate all of my concerns and I cannot thank her enough thus this DAISY nomination is just a small token of my appreciation. Thanks again Laura Dry!
