August 2026 Honoree
Laura Hiatt, BSN, RN
Laura always checks up on nurses to ensure the NOC shift is going okay. She is always willing to help. Whenever we have angry patients, she is always willing to have our backs. She does not let patients get away with being verbally abusive. Laura promotes unity and helping each other out, especially on nights.
One night shift, I was floated and had my first code. Hands down the hardest shift of my life. Laura went down and checked on me. We prayed for my patient together. Laura advocated for me not to work the following night.
Laura also went down to the ICU with me after our shift was over; I needed to say goodbye to the patient's mom. Without Laura's compassion and empathy, I do not think I could have handled that situation. She makes people feel well supported.
Laura is always willing to help and listen. Laura always advocates for her staff when she is the charge nurse. Laura promotes unity and teamwork within staff.
