"Although all 6E staff were exceptional, we would like to give special thanks to Ms. Laura Koon, RN. Ms. Koon and M developed a special bond. We loved to watch the two as they held hands and sang country western songs, though M did check to see if there was a ring on her finger! She ensured that the TV was set to the football games, and later, as he was fading, she brought a radio so he could listen to his beloved country music."

Ms. Koon leaves this impression with all of the families she serves on 6E. She made it a point to be the assigned nurse for Mr. H and learned his preferences and the small things that brought him comfort at the end of his life. She was a tireless advocate to ensure his pain was managed well and utilized nonmedicinal interventions to improve his quality of life.
