Laura M Heilig, RN

I am nominating Laura because she is an incredible nurse, teacher, and the biggest patient advocate. In a very busy day, she takes the most time with her patients. Even though I knew I was stressful, she wanted to teach me, which made me more eager to learn. She made her patients feel comfortable and very aware! She was not afraid to stand up for the smallest of voices.

During my preceptorship, her patience and communication made my life easier, and I never felt more comfortable with someone. Additionally, she provided care that is truly extraordinary. She was always calm and collected, with her patients' best interests in mind. Whether it was singing Old McDonald to a little girl or explaining every detail of a procedure, she was on top of it. Laura is an exemplary nurse, and Freeman is better off having her as a nurse. I hope that when I go to the ED, I'll be half the nurse she is.
