It was a Saturday when a Code NEO was called and Laura Maurer responded. The baby girl was in critical condition with a grave prognosis. As Laura continued to support baby girl and her parents, the decision to transfer to Penn State Hershey Medical Center was made. The transport team began the long process of transitioning the baby girl over to their equipment, when Laura realized that pictures needed to be taken for the mother who remained an inpatient. Laura took several pictures of the baby girl. Because it was late, Laura returned the following day to print the pictures; however the picture printers were not functioning. Laura completed her shift, went to CVS, printed the pictures and returned to the mother's room who thanked Laura with a hug. A week later, the baby girl's obituary was in the newspaper. This mother had lasting memories of her infant daughter because of Laura's caring and selfless act of taking the time and effort to develop the pictures for this family.
