Laura was one of only two providers I have ever encountered in my life who said, "If you were my sister" when considering treatment for me.
I was seen at the Wentworth Douglass Express Care in Dover. I have suffered for many years with chronic sinus infections and other health issues and receive treatment and antibiotics frequently. I was amazed at the compassion that Laura McPhee showed me and her respect for my knowledge of my own health which is why I think she is a DAISY Nurse.

A lot of times I can be viewed as a nuisance by healthcare workers because of my complex health issues, and the fact that I get frequent infections. Many people are under the assumption that antibiotics are 'bad' when some people really need them. Laura was one of only two providers I have ever encountered in my life who said, "If you were my sister" when considering treatment for me. In my opinion, more medical staff should view people in this caring way instead of chalking us up to a medical record number or a diagnosis and moving on to the next 'problem’.

The pandemic has caused much fear, strain, and burnout among healthcare workers. Laura is special because she doesn’t show this to the patients. Her shining kindness and compassion are deserving of notice and recognition. She is a model of how kind a healthcare worker should be. She was friendly and warm on entering the room and took the time to listen and talk with me. After all the negative experiences I have had with healthcare this was a refreshing and a welcome interaction especially while feeling very ill. I hope her example will inspire people as there is a great need for more healthcare workers like her. Thank you.
