Laura Mendez not only deserves the DAISY Award because she is a rose flower. I had the pleasure of having Laura as my nurse, and I saw a deep passion in her heart that only an exceptional nurse could have. I was feeling a little down, and she took the time to sit with me, and due to her personal sunshine, she really lifted my spirits.
There were so many little things Laura did during my stay, that I cannot mention them all. She took the time to care, and we exchanged life lessons with each other. The Daisy is a sweet flower, but my Laura deserves to stand out with this award because she is the rarest flower in the world. She is a breed of Nurse that all should strive to become, with skill, knowledge, compassion, and at discharge, we knew we touched each other's hearts.
