I don't know where to begin in describing Laura. She is everything and more than you could hope for when your elderly father comes into the hospital after a traumatic fall and surgery. We were fortunate enough that she was our nurse for 3 days while my father who has Lewy Body Dementia came into the trauma unit with a broken hip. She was compassionate, caring and patient. She would explain what she was going to do for him before doing it, so he wasn't scared or surprised. She followed up constantly and uniquely understood that this was not only traumatic for him but the family as well. As a result, for every crazy question or request we made, she was there to support us. Sometimes we didn't like the answer, but we knew we were getting an honest answer from Laura and that made us feel better about the care our father was receiving. With dementia, keeping to a routine schedule of medications is absolutely critical. There were multiple instances where there were mess ups with the pharmacy but Laura was vigilant to make sure my dad got what he most needed.
I'd love to say that my dad and family were special cases and Laura treated us special from others but I have a feeling every family gets the same remarkable care from her and that's what makes her so special and unique. Laura sets the bar very high for all nurses and staff and wewere glad to have her take care of us.
