I have worked with many amazing nurses, but my time working alongside Laura Lee will forever be memorable because of the person she is, inside and out. She has worked at Saint Al's for more than 20 years, starting as a CNA in the ICU, moving on to working as an RN in FMC and finally coming to us here at CARE Clinic for the past 14 years. Laura exemplifies what it means to be a caring, compassionate healthcare professional. She believes in equitable healthcare for all and is constantly advocating for our patients to receive the best care possible. She helps coordinate referrals, specialty appointments, transportation, medications, DME, (you name it) for any patient who might need extra assistance. She is a mentor and a role model to everyone she works with at the Center for Global Health and Healing. She is a humble learner and is always willing to share with others what she has learned from her experiences. She has helped countless women navigate their pregnancies. Whether it be a mama's first baby in a new country or someone who has had many experiences with the healthcare system, Laura walks alongside each patient, the entire way, and is there to support them however they need. She takes patient-centered care very seriously and lets that guide each interaction she has with a patient and their families. ​

CARE Clinic would not be what it is today without Laura. She has taken the time to get to know each team member, each patient, and the communities we serve, knowing the importance of building trusting relationships. I have had patients tell me that they come to CARE Clinic because Laura is here, and they know she will listen to all of their concerns. ​

Laura shares her knowledge of working with the population we serve, with the broader community; presenting at various clinics and organizations across the city alongside her team members. She is a wealth of knowledge and will happily share with anyone ready to learn. ​

Not only does Laura go above and beyond daily for her patients, but she also shows up for her colleagues every day. She has the best energy, is thoughtful, and has a great sense of humor. When days are hard and the team is feeling burnt out, Laura knows just how to cheer people up so everyone can come back again the next day. She will jump in to help wherever she can whenever there is a need. Laura has dedicated herself to this line of work and takes the time to continue to learn and grow in her skillset. She is an amazing mom that we all look up to. She also always makes sure the fridge is always stocked with the "good creamer". ​

On top of all of that, her QC logs and organizational skills are what Quality dreams are made of. She is a true gem. ​
Any patient would be so fortunate to have Laura caring for them. We count our blessings every day that we get to work alongside her here at CARE Clinic/The Center for Global Health and Healing.
