Laura Pulda is being recognized for both patient care and leadership. Laura serves as one of our primary charge nurses on weekends, bringing many years of invaluable experience to her role.

As a charge nurse, Laura's expertise is a cornerstone for both our nursing and provider teams. Her ability to manage patient care effectively ensures that all patients on the unit receive the highest quality of care. Laura's dedication and leadership make her an indispensable part of our team, and her commitment to excellence is evident in everything she does.

A recent example of Laura's exceptional skills occurred during the delivery of twins, where she attended as the baby nurse. Upon assessing twin B, Laura identified a loud heart murmur and immediately expressed concerns that it was not a normal heart murmur. She suspected it was something more serious and performed four-limb blood pressures and obtained pre/post ductal O2 saturations. Despite the normal results, Laura felt uneasy and trusted her instincts.

Laura contacted the provider, who assured her that the infant was stable and could wait to be seen until the morning. However, Laura suggested having another provider on the unit assess the baby, but was told it could wait. Uneasy with this decision, Laura closely monitored the infant. The following morning, when the pediatrician assessed the baby, an ECHO was ordered, revealing a diagnosis of Pulmonary Valve Stenosis. The infant required an emergency transfer to Children's Hospital for surgery. This was a great catch by Laura, showcasing her vigilance and dedication to patient care.

Thank you, Laura, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
