Laura Rysso is an extraordinary role model in our cardiovascular unit. She is so kindhearted, compassionate and cares for her patients and families with never-ending thoughtfulness. She has proved this since she was "2012 Nurse of the Year".
She likewise has compassion for her team workers. For her 30th birthday this year, Laura hired a masseuse for her coworkers / friends at work for a 4 hour period. We all benefited from this stress-reducer in the middle of our busy day at work. What a wonderful surprise for us.
Laura was away on vacation at this time. This was the most unselfish and thoughtful act a nurse could contribute to her co-workers and friends, in addition to her incredible, compassionate patient care.
