The DAISY awardis for extraordinary nurses, which describes Laura Saner perfectly. I have not only had the privilege of witnessing Laura's exemplification of exemplary clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service, and continued commitment to excellence, from a professional standpoint, but also as a patient's family member. I am nominating Laura for the DAISY award based on my experience as a patient's family member.

My grandmother was a patient on 4NW, and under the care of Laura during her stay at UMC. When I would come in to visit my grandmother, I would see Laura in her room talking with my grandmother, despite the fact that she was in a coma. I honestly believe that Laura's continual discussions with my grandmother enabled my grandmother to heal and keep her mind sharp. I also believe that Laura's positive and considerate nature sped up the healing process for my grandmother. I also found it extremely comforting that Laura naturally performed this act of kindness, even when others were not around to witness. AIDET wasn't just an acronym to Laura, but was simply the way she conducted herself professionally. ...
